F-f-f-f-f-f-fuck yeah! We are getting closer and closer until I can get my Con on. Banners are already flying downtown and the buses are carrying the ads.
News about Con programming and guests are starting to emerge on the interwebs. The
Official Comic-Con website briefly posted up the schedule for Thursday and Friday only for them to disappear into thin air. I guess they weren't ready to announce anything officially. The likely actors' strike might have something to do with it.
Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson kick things off on Thursday with a preview for the upcoming
Ghostbusters video game. Fox will be there to promote their remake of
The Day the Earth Stood Still with Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly as well as
Max Payne with Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis. Robert Rodriguez and Rose McGowan will discuss their plans for
Red Sonja. Lionsgate will preview
Punisher: War Zone in the evening.
The big one for me is the Q&A between Stan Lee and Grant Morrison. That should be fun.
Friday sees
Watchmen and
The Spirit in Hall H.
Kevin Smith will be all over the place this year. He's sitting in on a panel with Frank Miller, Zack Snyder, and Judd Apatow which will be followed by his usual Q&A. He'll also be hosting a panel for Spike TV and one for
Battlestar Galactica.
Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Jessica Hynes will be there to promote the US DVD release of
Spaced. They'll do a panel, screening, and signing. There's a press event Friday morning which I hope to go, but it looks be overlap the
Watchmen panel.
NBC has put up their own
Comic-Con subsection. Following last year's Beatles welcome,
Heroes gets bumped to Hall H on Saturday. They'll also be selling several Comic-Con exclusive items including this bad boy...

Yes, boys and girls, it is the
Battlestar Galactica Toaster which can burn a Cylon into your toast.
Action Figure Insider posted up Mattel's offerings and programming schedule. Paramount has apparently scaled back their presence despite
Star Trek,
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and
G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra coming out next year. They will be screening
Tropic Thunder. Other screenings tentatively planned are
Fanboys (finally!!!),
Hamlet 2,
Lost Boys: The Tribe, and Marvel's latest animated piece of crap,
Next Avengers.
That's all for now. I'll be posting more Comic-Con goodness as we get down to the wire.
